our home is burning
In Case You Haven’t Heard
Hi. If you’re reading this, then that means you’re wondering what on earth I’m doing writing a blog about climate change of all things. After all, I’m a teenager. You probably think I would care more about shoes or the cutest boy or whatever, but I don’t. I care about our planet surviving the next few years. Climate change is a real thing, and it’s dangerous. If it gets any worse, it could kill us and our planet. The thing is, we can stop it. I want to stop it, but I’m just one person. But if enough people care, we can work together and end climate change. Now to persuade you to see it the way I see it, I’ll tell you a little story. I didn’t care about climate change. I didn’t even know what it was. Until I sat in McDonald’s, eating ice cream and watching the news. I saw people, politicians, fighting about climate change. I wondered what it was. But then I realized it sounded bad, and it had to be stopped. They said it was a hoax, but if that’s true then how do you explain the recent forest fires of Australia, or the ice caps melting in Antarctica? It’s real, and it’s getting worse every time we simply talk about it rather than doing something. Instead of taking action, our dear old President Trump sits on his imaginary throne, trying to control this mindless country. And unfortunately, it’s working. He’s telling the world that it’s all a hoax to get us worried, to scare us into voting for other politicians. But all he’s worried about is protecting his precious presidency. He only wants power, money, and fame. But it’s time we stop this. It’s time we stop sitting around letting our world burn before our eyes and do something. While the government is worried about how to keep a job, and a president, we should be worried about our planet. If you want a life for your child, for the next generation, then it’s time to make a change. Our children will live in a world with dirty water and unclean air if we don’t make a stand. Do you really want that? If not, then I suggest doing whatever you can to help the protest against climate change and make our world a better place. Help make our world safe for you and your family. For you and your life.
